Fire damage restoration
From board-up to rebuild, one company manages the whole job.
Fire damage restoration is the full job after a house fire: securing the home, removing water from firefighting, cleaning smoke and soot, removing odor, saving belongings and rebuilding what burned.
What the restoration company does
- Walk-through and a written scope of work you can share with your insurer
- Emergency board-up, roof tarping and fencing
- Water extraction and drying from firefighting
- Soot and smoke cleaning on walls, ceilings and contents
- Odor removal with air scrubbers, thermal fogging or hydroxyl
- Tear-out and rebuild of damaged areas

Questions
How long does fire damage restoration take?
A small kitchen fire is often cleaned and repaired in one to three weeks. A fire that affects several rooms commonly takes two to six months, mostly because of rebuild work, permits and material lead times. The restoration company can give you a schedule after the first walk-through.
Can I clean fire damage myself?
Light smoke residue on hard surfaces can sometimes be cleaned with the right products, but soot smears easily and acidic residue keeps damaging surfaces, wiring and electronics. Water from firefighting also needs proper drying to stop mold. For anything beyond a small, contained area, a restoration company is the safer choice.
